Here's the result:

Today I also had some nice wool yarn in the mail, which I'd ordered at Schoppel-Wolle. The colorway kind of reminds me of Trekking XXL and I think I'm making a nice hoodie for Johanna with it.

Something that was STILL NOT IN THE MAIL: my dye-o-rama yarn:-( My not-so-secret pal Katherine mailed it a month ago! PATIENCE, mama, PATIENCE...

Um, so a week ago my mother mentioned she was going to get a delivery of sock yarn at the store.

Can I hear you say uh-oh? Yeah, you're right. I'd told my mother I was on a diet, but she just looked at me and said, 'But Julia, you can never have enough sock yarn...!' Before I knew it, I was cradling these babies:

especially the green variegated and the blue/teal ones are even more intense in color than in this picture!
The blue and green yarn is a real bargain hand-dyed yarn I won on ebay BEFORE the SYAC diet, though.

Another delivey came in today, Opal solids which was ordered on March 22nd (and which I'd already included in my stash count), got lost in the mail and was generously resent with- a pretty campari red ball of yarn as a compensation, whaddayasay?

I just read that Anna already quit the SYAC after realizing she's a happy yarnoholic, but seriously, I do want to stop buying yarn and technically, I didn't buy that new yarn;-) Anyhow, the stash is growing and I am working hard at making it shrink.

Look, the first Alberta sock is done. I finished it even after I had an unpleasant accident with the blender. That was one of the DUMBEST, embarrassing household accidents I've had, but I'm lucky I didn't lose the tip of my left pointer finger. Nevertheless, after the bleeding stopped and I'd taped the finger up with three band-aids with little duckies on them, I picked up the pointy sticks again. NOTHING WILL STOP ME!

I was a little shocked when I counted the yarn... There's sock yarn stash pix coming up on April 1st!

They're here! If I can't travel to Canada right now (due to lack of funds...umm- note to self: BUY LESS YARN!!), I might at least knit Canadian inspired socks, right? That was quick and at 5 Euro a skein and only 1,90 postage on Ebay, this was such a steal!

The River Rapid socks are a wonderful knit- at first I thought it'd be a bit complicated, but after the first pattern repeat, I hardly even had to look at it anymore. That sped up things immensely:I'm almost ready to turn the heel. Check out how it looks when it's stretched out more: As I mentioned, I was a little worried that the yarn was too stripey for the pattern, but I kind of like how it chops up the river, like ripples.

Then late last night, while I was on the phone with my much-missed friend Hedi, I started my first toe-up sock according to Wendy's pattern. By the end of our conversation, I'd finished the toe:-) Don't recognize the yarn? Well, I HAD to buy it on Saturday at the LYS. It's Regia Nation Color 'Fun' (I'm a member of the fun nation now;-)) One skein was discounted because it was a different dye lot. Couldn't tell a difference. I'd seen a pair of socks Carola made from this colorway, and I wanted to make one as well!
