Hey everyone,

yes, I'm still here, just quiet. Unfortunately not because I'm having too much fun. I feel like such a fool. Some things really are too good to be true.

So there you have it, the knitting world has me back. And I guess it's time to fess up what's on the needles. The sidebar with all the WIPs was way too short- I've been camouflaging my cast-on addiction. It's pathetic. That's when you know you're addicted- you're hiding new projects from others!

I secretly cast on for another Wavy in Noro Silk Garden. Those three balls in amazing fall colors(colorway 230) that I got on sale were just calling me...

Alright, I'm going to post a true account of what's on my needles, go and check out the sidebar (in case you're reading this in Bloglines...) Oh NO! I've just counted- EIGHT WIPs. How many do you have?

I'm pretty pleased with the name for those reddish Meilenweit Mega Boots Stretch socks that I've started as a mindless stockinette project when I first started *mumble* falling in love. "The Thrill Is Gone Socks". Great song.

In other news, I'm such a loser knitalonger- both the Trek-Along as well as the Bitchin' Mittens just ended and I haven't finished either of my projects. At least I've been working on the Pretty 'Spring' (haha) Petals socks, so I can at least finish those for the Sock-A-Month KAL.

One item I've continuously been working on this month was the cabled sweater for Johanna. I'm in love with that yarn, it's wonderfully soft and those colors are just beautiful. I've picked up the stitches for the hood a little too tightly, so I'm going to have to frog back. I could've just done a crew neck, but Johanna insists on the hood:-D

The Wavy debacle

So here's a picture of wavy before I washed it and one of how freakin' dirty the water was;-) I rinsed it 4 times!

My mother came over today and gave her expert opinion on why the pattern didn't come out as nice as I hoped: I should've used a lager size pair of needles. The yarn really poufed up after washing, so it's a little tight:-( Sorry, still no picture of how it came out, I'm still a little too disappointed...

I'm simply going to have to knit another one of these. Noro Kureyon sounds tempting enough to make me want to actually start over again.

Last night I sewed a little gift for one of Johanna's kindergarten friends who turns 2 tomorrow. She's totally adorable and I thought she should have something special, this cutesy purse:

I finished Wavy a couple of nights ago, I was soooo excited to rinse it a little and leave it to dry, but I'm not sure if the yarnturns out that way, or if it felted a little. Sigh... It's a good scarf, for sure, but it's a bit heavy and the waves don't come out like I was hoping they would. In my attempts not to think about it too much, I haven't even taken any pictures of the finished piece yet. tomorrow...

But I've been wanting to share a nice story with you, a few weeks back, I had one of those obnoxious people asking for donations at my door. Although I said I had no interest whatsoever, he somehow managed to let me know my upstairs neighbors were getting married the next day. We hardly even say our hellos in the hallway, but the woman seems to be a cool chick who has a celebrity magazine subscribtion;-) Anyway, I happened to have an idea for a nice card to give to them, so I knit up these two hearts using the heart pattern from S'nB Nation's Lil' Devil Pants and attaching them with a string. Then I wrote a short note wishing them well, taped the hearts to it and hung it out of their mailbox so they'd find it the next morning:

Unfortunately, they did not find them and the hearts just hung here for the weekend:-(

When they finally found the card, Johanna and I got a very cool children's book the next day, only a day before her birthday, that was so nice of them!

Now we talk when we meet each other in the hallway:-)

Random acts of kindness

What a great way of starting the day: went to the post office to pick up the package Mare sent me from Oregon. It's the pattern for the 'Map Of the World Afghan' including this pile of leftover yarn. Isn't that just so sweet and kind of Mare? Gotta love her!

It was very cool to find out she was from Bandon, Oregon, where I've spent a few wonderful and unforgotten days back in 1997 during a 3 1/2 month hitch-hiking trip down the West Coast. Lovely people in Bandon, OR:-)

Okay, lots of knitting stories and new projects right now- tonight I'm going to teach my friend Saskia how to knit a hat and I've taken her yarn shopping yesterday. Of course I got yarn as well:-) I cast on for the Rogue and Wavy last night, that's how excited I was about the nice yarns I got.

Here's the little piece of Wavy I knit last night, the yarn looks a little rough and rigid, but I made a swatch and blocked it. Ta-daah, it's beautifully soft and cuddly. It's a tweed yarn with a little cashmere mixed it, so that's what it's supposed to do;-)

What do you think about my right hand Floral Fair-Isle Glove? I finished it 2 nights ago. I had to alter the thumb and the pinkie, my thumb is about twice the size than the pattern :-o and my pinkie is quite a bit smaller. Strange hands... At least I finally get a pair of gloves that really fit. I usually have more than a centimeter of excess material on the pinkies, which I find very annoying.

Now I've got to clean our place, I'm having a friend visiting this afternoon and I don't want her to see how much I've let the place ROT the last few days *gasp*
